Therapeutic Approach

All are welcome at Sona Behavioral Health! “Sona” meets “happy” in Irish—and my goal is to create a therapy experience that brings out your happy. My integrative counseling combines various modalities to treat a wide-range of mental health concerns and disorders (see below for a list). I take a person-centered, collaborative approach that considers the unique circumstances and needs of every client. I’m currently accepting new clients for individual therapy in the Twin Cities Metro Area who are 13 years old and up.

Meet Molly

Molly Burke, MA

Molly graduated from the University of St. Thomas with an MA in Clinical Counseling in May 2022 and completed her practicum with Relate Counseling Center. While she recently started her career in therapy, her professional life started a decade earlier.

FIRST, A WRITER

Driven by an interest in human behavior and a passion for writing, Molly received her BA in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Iowa in 2011. She loved interviewing and reporting on interesting people and studying how human rights and societal needs affect (and are affected by) government institutions. After college, Molly worked in corporate communications and the creative departments of both Fortune 50 companies and locally owned advertising agencies. After 10 years as a writer, she wanted to help people on a more individual level. Pairing this new goal with her deep interest in mental health, she enrolled in her master’s program.

NOW, A MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER

Four years (and one pandemic!) later, Molly started Sona Behavioral Health (the name ‘Sona’ inspired by her Irish heritage) with the goal of helping each client work through their mental health concerns, reach personal goals, and improve their lives. She is currently pre-licensed and on the LPCC track. She is the Sole Proprietor of Sona Behavioral Health. She is supervised by Erin Venker, MA, LPCC and Kristin Nelson, Psy.D., L.P.

In her personal life, Molly enjoys hanging out with her daughter, husband, and two dogs. They love the outdoors, hiking, skiing, cooking, cozying up and watching movies, and traveling everywhere.

Empathy and respect are the core tenants of Molly’s practice. All are welcome at Sona!
